Welcome to Dannevirke South School

Dannevirke South is a school of opportunities.  We have a strong focus on literacy and numeracy and staff have worked very hard to implement very good teaching programmes with excellent results.

Students with learning needs are catered for with a range of intervention programmes included: RRAP reading, teacher aide support and expert classroom teachers.

Our Gifted and Talented programme includes: ICAS, Otago Maths, Robotics, EPro8 Challenge and the Kid Lit Quiz.

Staff and students are supported by an excellent Board of Trustees and a wonderful Support our Students (SOS) group of parents.

One exciting initiative the school is undertaking is developing our classroom programmes to better cater for dyslexic children.  Some staff have received training and classroom programmes will become more "Dyslexic Friendly".  This will benefit all our children.  More on this in the future.
