Update from Level 4

A big Hello to our South Family and Whānau,

As many of us predicted we will be in Level 4 for a while longer- we can do this!
This message is an update of the work we have been doing behind the scenes to prepare for this.

Everyone will have been contacted by their child’s or childrens’ teacher over the next few days.  This call is primarily to check in and touch base, to ask if we can help in any way and to see who would like hard copy learning packs dropped off for the next week. Please let us know if you need support- we do have contacts with many agencies who can provide emotional, financial or medical help.

We are working on the assumption that we will be involved in At Home Learning for at least the next week and have been planning for this. By Monday morning teachers will be in touch with learning for next week for their class. We know that many of you will be doing great learning with your families already- cooking, baking, going for walks, looking at photos, being active, doing puzzles or playing games so the work we are sending is optional. It would be wonderful to have students participating if possible but we understand that this is not always possible. We would love to hear more about what fun things you are doing at home so please share photos or videos with us! As a staff we have already been sharing the baking we have been up to over the last 3 days.

To help with this home learning Team Leaders and the two Carolines will be creating learning packs over the weekend and dropping them off to families who requested them by Monday night. The Ministry of Education has been granted a special exemption to enable a small amount of staff to enter school to organise these and to enable us to drop them at homes (with very strict distancing rules in place). These will be dropped off in mailboxes and teachers will be wearing gloves and masks to keep everyone safe. Please ensure you remain at least 2m away from the team if you see them- though I know they would love it if you could at least wave and say “Hi”!

We will keep in contact through email, calls/texts, our website, school app and Facebook so please keep an eye on these channels.

Keep safe everyone and look after each other!
