Isolation updates

Isolation changes

Kia ora koutou,

I thought I would just clarify the new isolation rules as some families are being impacted by Covid  and are unsure when their children can return to school. The diagram below helps explain this further but in summary

  • A positive case must isolate for 7 days and does NOT need a negative test to return to school after day 7 as long as they are symptom free
  • All Household contacts must test themselves on day 3 and 7
  • If a different household member tests positive during your isolation ONLY the positive case needs to start a new 7 day period of isolation (everyone one else just does the first 7 days)
  • Once you have finished your 7 days of isolation, you do NOT need to re-isolate if a household member tests positive within 10 days of the end of your isolation (as long as you are symptom free)
