Learning from you

Kia ora South School whānau

We all know that families know their children best and we want to further strengthen our learning based relationships with you to help every one of our tamariki succeed. When we meet in our interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday, we would like to learn more about your child and your whānau. We hope that this conversation will help us further meet the needs of each of our students and make our connection stronger.

We know how hard it can be to think on the spot so we thought you would appreciate some forward notice of some of the things we might chat about- please see the possible questions below.

On Friday your child will also bring home a sheet that gives you an update on how your child is progressing, their attitude towards learning and their academic achievement so we can discuss this further in the interviews.

  1. Can you tell us a bit about your family and life at home?
  2. What’s on top for you today?
  3. What is your child like out of school?
  4. What does your child enjoy doing?
  5. What do you think are your child’s strengths?
  6. What are the key things you think we need to know to help your child succeed?
  7. What are your aspirations for your child?
  8. What do you see as their biggest area of need?
  9. What is the key thing we need to know about your child or your family?
  10. Is there anything we could do better for your child or your family at school?
  11. How do you prefer to hear from us? In person, by phone, email, messenger, text etc?

If you do not have an interview time please go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code in your browser, and enter the event code yn72w or speak to your classroom teacher who will be able to help.

Thank you for your support,
